Who Am I
Welcome. My name is Leyi and I am a data-driven storyteller and market researcher, originally from China and now living in the US.
I chose the Moon, the Fish, and the Cloud to present myself. In traditional Chinese culture, the moon symbolizes reflection and indication, clouds represent transformation, and fish signify
adaptability. Together, they represent my journey: discovering hidden patterns in data, navigating diverse cultures, and connecting people and markets with creativity.

Moon – Stats to Illuminate
Like the moon reflecting hidden tides, I see data not only as numbers, but also as signals guiding decision-making. I graduated from a rigorous STEM program at Georgetown University, where I applied data to inform, persuade, and predict using R and Python. For example, I scraped 1,000+ posts from Reddit and mapped users' sentiments toward feminism. I also built a Long Short-Term Memory model to predict China’s gender gap based on the demographic information.

Cloud – Story to Connect
Clouds shift and transform into various shapes; I thrive in weaving stories to connect people. By analyzing data and writing reports, I created stories about migrant workers, homelessness, and children from underprivileged communities to advocate for change. As clouds invite us to see stories in the sky, I uncover narratives to inspire change via data visualization, videos, pictures, and all forms of media.
Fish – Strategy to Move Across the World
Just as fish swim between rivers and oceans, I moved across cultures and tailored marketing strategies. My work experience across Asia, Africa and North America. In Tanzania, I worked closely with local communities, leading surveys of more than 2,000 platform users to understand their needs. In Beijing, I created news content that reached over 100,000 viewers and sparked conversations. In Washington, D.C., I turned analysis into strategy by comparing housing models from Singapore, and Austria to explore new approaches for public housing.
